April 2022 Meadows Park Community Center Neighborhood Clean Up

In the heart of southwest Stratton Meadows, a community came together to sow the seeds of change, and the result was nothing short of remarkable. Meadows Park Community Center, in collaboration with CONO, orchestrated an Earth Month Shred and Recycle on Saturday, April 16, 2022. It was an event that not only showcased the strength of unity but also made a lasting impact on the environment and the lives of its residents.

Highlights of the Earth Month Shred and Recycle Event:

  • Care and Share Mobile Food Market: Serving as a lifeline for 140 neighbors in 47 households, this initiative ensured that no one in the community went without groceries.

  • Calvary Baptist Church at Meadows Park: Bringing joy to 100 neighbors through family-friendly activities, this event strengthened the sense of community and togetherness.

  • Shred-it Saves Trees: Proper shredding and recycling of paper documents, thanks to Shred-it, contributed to the preservation of six trees, underlining the commitment to environmental responsibility.

  • Pikes Peak United Way Volunteer Power: Young leaders of the LEAD Program exemplified the strength of community spirit, with 40 volunteers dedicating their time and effort to make the event a success.

  • GreenSheen's Record-Breaking Effort: In its largest event ever, GreenSheen collected an astounding 115,284 lbs. of paint, marking the second-largest paint collection event in Colorado's history.

  • E-Tech Recyclers' Electronic Waste Collection: Responsible disposal reached new heights with the collection of 2,500 lbs. of universal electronic waste, contributing to a cleaner and safer environment.

The success of this event was not a solo effort; it was a harmonious collaboration between Meadows Park Community Center and CONO. CONO's unwavering support and meticulous planning played a pivotal role in orchestrating an event of such magnitude.

As 1,100+ cars from southern Colorado drove through the 3-hour recycling event, it became evident that the community, guided by Meadows Park and CONO, is not just aware of the need for sustainable practices but actively participating in making a difference.

In the spirit of unity and sustainability, Meadows Park Community Center and CONO have set a shining example for communities everywhere. Together, they have proven that when a community unites for a common cause, the impact can be transformative. Here's to a greener, cleaner future, and to many more collaborative efforts that inspire positive change!
